Pep Guardiola believes his Manchester City side face a challenge to get back to winning ways at Luton this weekend.

The champions have gone four games without a Premier League win for the first time since 2017 after successive draws against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham were followed by defeat at Aston Villa on Wednesday.

They will be expected to put that behind them at Kenilworth Road on Sunday but the promoted Hatters have produced some battling performances on their top-flight return and Guardiola expects another.

The City manager said: “They are doing really well for the way they play. Top clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal have struggled to win against them and it will be no different for us.

“But at the same time we’re ready for the challenge…

Kroos: March games will show whether Germany are Euro 2020 contenders

Toni Kroos believes Germany will have a better idea if they can compete for Euro 2020 glory after next March s international matches.

Joachim Low s side secured their place at next year s finals with a 4-0 win over Belarus on Saturday, in which Real Madrid star Kroos scored twice.

The midfielder said after the game that Germany could not consider themselves among the favourites to take Portugal s continental crown next year, given the lack of experience of some of their players.

Beckham, England stunned by crushing 2018 snub

England missed out on the 2018 tournament as FIFA members voted to take the tournament to Russia for the first time, a devastating snub to the English who had lobbied relentlessly for the tournament.

Adding insult to injury, Mayor of London Boris Johnson revealed England may also have been eliminated in the first round of voting, winning fewer votes than rank outsiders Belgium-Holland.

I think the bid team have done everything possible, we couldn t have got a better bid, Beckham told BBC radio.

In a repeat of the 2023 Champions League final, City were unable to find a way past a resolute Nerazzurri defence at the Etihad Stadium.

Ilkay Gundogan missed two huge chances at the death for the hosts, but Inter themselves went close to snatching three points through Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Erling Haaland, meanwhile, was limited to the fewest touches of all 22 starters (14) as his bid to reach 100 goals for City was foiled.

Despite City failing to score for just the second time in 42 home Champions League games under him (also versus Sporting CP in 2022), Guardiola refused to …

Mane sends Senegal through but Ghana on the brink in AFCON qualifying

Sadio Mane s last-gasp free-kick sent Senegal to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after edging out Malawi 1-0 on Tuesday.

Despite dominating for large parts of the contest, Senegal were unable to break down Malawi s stern defence, with goalkeeper William Thole making a string of impressive saves.

However, after Robert Saiz hauled Mane down just outside the area, the Al-Nassr forward stepped up and curled home the winner in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time.

The 2021 winners of the competition joined Burkina Faso in qualifying for the tournament that takes place in Morocco next year, with both sides on 10 points in Group L.
